Welcome to Biting-Edge, a blog shared by authors and vampire experts, Mario Acevedo and Jeanne Stein. We’ll cover urban fantasy, vampires, pop culture, and all things Joss Whedon. Unlike other fantasy blogs, we don’t insist on body cavity searches (unless you ask politely). Snarkiness is most welcome...though we won't promise not to bite back!

  Vampires & Other Bloodsuckers

The marvelous Nancy Marmolejo interviewed me this week for her Inner Loca show and the podcast is up. Check it out.

I've been missing "Buffy" a lot lately. My fandom of vamps is split between tv series and books, and Joss Whedon's brilliant series set a high standard. I loved the terrific ensemble acting, the fantastical plots, the irreverance, the lyrical dialog, and the inventiveness and fun of this show.

Fox has two supernatural series for the fall. One is called "Amy After Dark," about an attorney who is also a VAMPIRE. You mean, there are attorneys who aren't bloodsuckers? Get outa here! The other is about a cop who is actually hundreds of years old. Man, he'll be slow on those foot-chases.

The manuscript for my second novel is due in eleven days. Yes, I am freaking out.

Comments:
Eleven days is forever!!! So many hours if you string them all together (no sleep, no exercise, no house cleaning, no grocery shopping, etc.). NO WORRIES!!!

Go Marta, go Marta . . .

Thanks, Robin. I'm down with the "no housecleaning." I'm still itching to go outside and play in the garden, though, but I fight off that urge.

This is the best of times, the worst of times. Can't help you with your manuscript, of course, but Buffy is on here every morning on SciFi. I always use it as a warm up to my own writing. I'm sure it's on in CA, too. I like it because it's only one episode. If I put on a DVD, I'm likely to watch an entire season in one sitting!

Love, Jeanne

And I was kidding about the no-exercise thing. Actually, that's the only requirement. Sleep, not so much. But after 14-hour days (or whatever) at the keyboard, if you don't do some stretching or walking you'll end up as one big claw. Not so good for career longevity.
